BUG CONVENTION #37 Please note! This information may be updated — just like an old Beetle that never stops surprising. This year we have changed the dates, which is far from usual — and instead the event will take place on 7–9 August 2026. The reason? It clashed with the Hessisch Oldendorf meeting. But we are pretty sure this new date will be at least as magical as ever. Friday 7 August – Drop-in from 2:00 PM! Just roll in, pick your favorite spot, park your VW and start winding down in the best company imaginable. We have the entire Björna Camping to ourselves, and if you arrive with an air-cooled Volkswagen and camp on site, you stay completely FREE of charge. Service building, toilets, showers, electricity and water are available — and yes, all of this is free for you as well. If you arrive in another type of vehicle to sleep in, we will arrange a separate area just beside the event grounds where you can tuck in for the night. So fold out the rock ’n’ roll bed in your bus, roll out your sleeping mat or lean back with a cold beer in hand — because meanwhile, Övik Bug Fans will be preparing a dinner for you that we invite you to! The rest of Friday evening? Pure Volkswagen joy — chatting, laughter and togetherness until the sun sets (and maybe a bit longer…). Saturday – the big day! The official program will be released during the spring, but those of you who have been here before know what to expect: Top 5 People’s Choice Lotteries Finnkampen Valve cover race Live troubadour evening And loads of fun, cars and great atmosphere FINNKAMPEN: Finland took the victory last year — but 2026 is the year Sweden takes the GOLD! The setup? Secret of course… but expect drama, laughter and excitement in the air! THE VALVE COVER RACE IS BACK THIS YEAR! Dust off the workshop, sharpen your creativity and start building — because here we decide who has the fastest cover in the north! Rules for the valve cover race: The cover must be built from a standard sheet metal valve cover from a Type 1 air-cooled engine. Wheel diameter: max 80 mm Wheelbase: max the length of the cover Weight: max 600 grams Total width: max 200 mm The cover will be weighed and inspected upon registration on site. The track length is 6 meters with free rolling. Two covers race at the same time! Registration takes place at the event! May the best builder win! Towards the end of the meeting – awards ceremony at the campsite! After the awards and lottery drawing, Övik Bug Fans will fire up a large grill that everyone may use (unless you prefer your own grill). Eat properly — because then the magic begins! Our favorites Daniel & Marcus will take the stage with their guitars and deliver a MAGICAL troubadour evening right in the middle of all the Volkswagens. Sauna & wilderness hot tub on site! A combined sauna/wild hot tub trailer will be ready at the campsite: Friday: warm from approx. 5:00 PM Saturday: warm from approx. 4:00 PM Skip cooking — just enjoy! Information in english for our international visitors: Bug Convention #36 NOTE! This information will be updated continuously. On Friday, June 27th, Bug Convention #36 will start with a gathering just north of Örnsköldsvik (exact location will be announced closer to spring) at 15.00 to move 35 kilometers inland in a long caravan to Björna Camping! We have the entire campsite at our disposal and those of you who come with an air-cooled Volkswagen and camp in the area will do so for FREE. There is a service house, several toilets and showers, electricity and water. All of this will be free for you! Once you arrive at the campsite and while you are setting up the rock n’ roll sofa in your bus, rolling out a sleeping mat or just enjoying a cold beer with a friend, Övik Bug Fans will prepare a great dinner for those of you who have come with us in the caravan to the meeting! Which we of course invite you to for free! After dinner on Friday night we will recharge with something good to drink and then play Kahoot! The program for Saturday for the official Bug Convention #36 will come in the spring. But those of you who usually visit us know more or less what to expect. There will be competitions, top 5, people's choice, lotteries, etc. This year we will do a little twist on FINNKAMPEN. 🙂 The set-up is of course, secret.. It will be Sweden against Finland in a thrilling battle for the best prize this weekend. Will the Swedish team take home this competition again this year? Towards the end of the meeting, there will be an award ceremony for competitions and lotteries, after that something is needed in the stomach! Together with Hotell Björnforsen, we have arranged a well-stocked barbecue buffet that you will not be able to go hungry from, for a bargain price of 229 SEK! We will have the restaurant to ourselves between 18-19.00, after that it is open to the public to visit the restaurant. After 19.00 we will have the award ceremony for the top 5 cars and people's choice at Hotel Björnforsen, so make sure to arrive on time! The evening just continues... after the award ceremony we invite you to another awesome troubadour evening with our favorites Daniel and Marcus! If the weather is good, you can sit on Björnforsen's large patio with a view of the beautiful Gideälv and Björna camping. From Björna camping to Hotel Björnforsen it is a 600 meter walk. On the camping area you are allowed to bring your own drinks, but at Hotel Björnforsen you are not allowed to bring your own drinks. However, we have received a good price on drinks, so we think that the bar will be empty when we go back down to the camping site towards nightfall. A combined sauna/hottube trailer will be available at the camping area and will be hot both Friday and Saturday. On Friday it will be hot from around 17.00 and Saturday around 16.00. There will be a breakfast buffet available for purchase at Hotell Björnforsen for 79 SEK both Saturday and Sunday mornings from 09.00, for those of you who just want to come and enjoy the whole weekend without cooking any food.
