jos laitat alennusvaiheet sulattokuormaan, tarttet -68 tai uudemmat pitkät suojaputket ja vetarit. Lisäksi yhdet lyhyet vetarit. Mittaat pitkän vetarin suojaputken pituuden, katkaiset sitten pitkästä vetarista suojakumin alta tuon putken, ja saman teet lyhyelle. Sitten liität lyhyen vetarin laakeripesäosan tuohon pitkän vetarin putkeen, jolloin saat latan suoraan, etkä tartte tilkitä mitään mittaheittoja. Googleta hitusen, löytyy mittoineenkin noita ohjeita aika monestakin paikkaa

use your gearbox if it is in good order

-take it out

take out the diff and fit it to the other side

-fit some 68 onwards long bug axles

-find some outer upto 67 axle tubes-you must have the bearing end caps to suit os the late ones will not fit in the housing/cap

-take these tubes to an engineer-remove cotter pin -press end off 28mm

-they are wedgemated you cannot fit late tubes in them as late ones are not wedgemated - mark with hack saw first

-no not tig weld the casting to the tube or it will crack

mig weld it inside and out-to the tube

-test that the axle will go in, and grind the inner welds as they wont

take a bug sping plate and trace its pattern onto the splitty one

-do NOT line them up to the ends-go over the splits forward single hole

-this will but the bug plate 20mm farther up on the splitty one

-get an engineer to stamp it out -do not cut them with heat, as the material is sodium spring steel

-releif cut the springplate so as to clear the torsion housing-radius it around a 10 pence piece-the line you bisect to clear the housing struck from the weld line is 20mm from the top of the plates edge

 

do not reassemble the gearbox into the van with oil in it, but slacken the fill bung - fit the split gaitors on the van - fit a new shift coupler

reassemble the springplates, but turning the nearside one 2 outer clicks-anti clockwise - clock wise the other side

 

done

 

brakes - if you want to go wide 5 there are 4 alternatives

-early bug 260mm drum -35mm shoes -.... 12mm bolts

67 only bug 260mm drums 50mm shoes - same as late bug 12mm(rare)

-pre 63 splitty same as type 3 but 14mm bolts

-type 3 -you can get the drums new still - and i think use late type 3 stuff inside?

 

i would fit early 944 discs if you have it all apert . -it will be cheaper in the long run as you can get new stuff - the rare parts are the caliper mount and hub-which is basically a late type 3 one but drilled 4 on 130

 

fiat punto shocks are the ones to get -tho you have to open the steel eye bush a bit as they have different holes tp and bot

i think you just need to fit a 30mm bit of tube to lengthen the bendy bit in the hadbrake cable

-end

 

the reason for using a gearbox from say a 76 bug(even an irs one as they are exactly the same thing is- they are easier to get than a 1500 sa

or type 3 -

alhough they have to be twin removeable side plate boxess -if it has only 1 you cannot use it as a straight axle box

 

-other benifits of a later box are-big oil seal, and generally it will already have th 3 drillings for the guide tube '/release bearing

-and generally over time vw beefed them up inside -release forks etc etc

1.Kuinka onnistuu alennusvaihteettomasta takapyörän paikalleen laitto ilman säätölattoja?

2. Miksi jatkaa suojaputkea? Yhdet tehneenä koko putken vaihtaminen pidempään oli mielestäni paljon helpompi toteuttaa ja periaattessa heikoin lenkki putken jatkosauma jäi pois. Suojaputken putkihan on 45x2.5 saumatonta putkea, tuttua turvakaarien teosta.

Ja ei siinä ole reilusti madalletussa kait muuta vaihtoehtoa kuin irroittaa vetari suojaputkineen latasta. Koska itse en menisi laittamaan käsiäni väliin jos rupee jollain saksitunkilla leikkimään.

Ja sitten miten erottaa pitkät putket ja vetarit lyhyistä. Kun käsittääkseni mulla on setti pitkiä vetareita ja putkia mutta en ole varma.
